There’s something so comforting about gathering fresh fallen leaves on a crisp walk and turning them into glowing home decor. But what if one craft project could take you all the way from early autumn right into the dark winter months?

We gathered bright, flexible red and gold leaves and decoupaged them onto glass jars to create pressed-leaf lanterns. The magic happens when you experiment with your light source!

The Autumn Vibe: Warm & Cozy Amber

Using soft LED amber tea lights inside the jars casts a golden, flickering glow across the kitchen counter. Framed by pumpkins, it feels like a warm fire on a chilly October evening—perfect for harvest dinners, quiet nights in, or Thanksgiving decor.

The Winter Vibe: Crisp, Starlight Illumination

When you swap in bright white LED puck lights or mini white LEDs, the mood instantly shifts. The intense white light turns the red leaves into vivid stained glass while casting sharp, beautiful shadows—reminiscent of bright moonlight reflecting off winter frost. It’s ideal for cozy winter evenings, stormy nights, or practical, beautiful emergency light during winter power outages!

Quick Crafting Tip: Pick leaves that are still flexible so they press flat against the curved glass without cracking! Mod Podge or decoupage glue holds them securely in place.
