Last year, we took down a few trees on our property and saved the wood rounds. I transformed one of those native wood slabs into a spooky, whimsical Halloween relief sculpture! She used clay to craft a magical nighttime scene featuring a German Shepherd and a cozy pup sitting under a glowing full moon, surrounded by fluttering bats and framed by gnarled, shadowy branches.

The rich textures in the clay fur, the vibrant autumn sunset sky, and the rustic warmth of the reclaimed wood came together so naturally. It’s a favorite seasonal piece that holds a little piece of our island’s history right inside it.
